i do miss those engines...why give them those other engines...me no like :P

Because they're more efficient and quieter and better for the environment.

But id still rather hear the scream of the valenta's, i think they should get a power car or two into preservation.

Ye, these MTU engines are meant to be better for the enviroment but i was at Bridgend and a hst was pulling in and i thought it had a valenta the smoke it was pouring out.

As it got closer i could see the power car had been overhauled and hear it was an MTU engine, i was shocked the smoke coming from it

The East Lancs already have a Deltic, Whistler and 9F on site, so your suggestion ( ;)) might not be that farfetched...

Funnily Dan should mention how quiet they are..
When they were first introduced, signal men were phoning drivers after the train had passed saying the back power car wasn't running. (they used to run Valenta one side, MTU on t'other)

ye that still happens now because not all the power cars are converted too MTU yet some you sometimes get a re-furbished one on the front and non on the back or the other way round
