There have sadly been some similar posts on here in the recent past but thought I would alert you to another incident.
Recently it was noted that 20 189 had developed a field divert fault. When this was investigated it was found that the No:5 Electronics Tray from the AEI speed sensing equipment was missing which would certainly explain the fault.
Having checked it is now clear that no one associated with the loco has removed this item and we must therefore sadly draw the conclusion that it has been stolen. Now the AEI speed sensing equipment cabinet on a 20 is not an item the casual 'visitor' might stumble across and to remove the No:5 tray is a moderately involved and time consuming task that involves disconnecting and removing other equipment that is in the way (and putting it all back again afterwards so the loss was not immediately obvious) before the tray can be slid out of the cabinet. It must therefore have been taken by one of the life forms mentioned in the title who both knew precisely what they wanted and how to get it.
This type of speed sensing equipment is to my knowledge fitted to a number of different loco types but again as mentioned in previous threads there is a finite amount of this vintage electronics kit about and it is very expensive to replicate. |
